Ingredients
- basmati rice300 g
- sliced almonds80 g
- onion1
- olive oil3 tablespoons
- ground cinnamon1 teaspoon
- ground cardamom1/2 teaspoon
- salt1 teaspoon
- black pepper1/2 teaspoon
- water600 ml
- vegetable stock (optional)1 cube

Wash the basmati rice in cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

Add the sliced almonds and stir for 2 minutes until golden.

Add the rice, cinnamon, cardamom, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the rice with the spices.

Pour in the water (or dissolved vegetable stock) and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.

Remove from heat and let it rest, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
