
Halal chicken tikka masala

- chicken breasts500 g
- plain yogurt200 ml
- lemon juice2 tablespoons
- cumin powder1 teaspoon
- coriander powder1 teaspoon
- turmeric1/2 teaspoon
- garam masala1 teaspoon
- chili powder1/2 teaspoon
- salt1 teaspoon
- vegetable oil3 tablespoons
- onion1 large
- garlic clove3
- fresh ginger1 piece 2 cm
- crushed tomatoes400 g
- heavy cream (halal)200 ml
- fresh cilantroa few sprigs

Cut chicken into cubes. Mix yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder and salt. Coat chicken and marinate 20 minutes.

Heat oil in a large pan. Sear chicken cubes over high heat 5 minutes. Set aside.

In same pan, sauté chopped onion, crushed garlic and grated ginger 3 minutes.

Add crushed tomatoes, season with salt and simmer 10 minutes on low heat.

Stir in heavy cream, return chicken and cook 10 minutes on medium heat, stirring.

Sprinkle with fresh chopped cilantro, serve hot with basmati rice or naan bread.
