
Pasta with Tomato and Basil Sauce
An easy and quick Italian recipe, perfect for a weekday dinner. Al dente pasta coated with a rich homemade tomato sauce scented with basil. A great introduction to halal Italian cuisine.
Ingredients
- Pasta (penne or spaghetti)400 g
- Canned peeled tomatoes800 g
- Onion1
- Garlic2 cloves
- Olive oil3 tablespoons
- Fresh basil1 bunch
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Sugar1 pinch

Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package directions. Drain, reserving a little cooking water.

Meanwhile, finely chop the onion and garlic. Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté the onion until translucent, then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add crushed peeled tomatoes, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add chopped basil leaves and mix. Adjust seasoning.

Pour the sauce over the drained pasta, toss gently. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
