Ingredients

  • Ground beef500 g
  • Onion1 medium
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Pita or lavash bread4 pieces
  • Crushed tomatoes400 g
  • Tomato paste2 tablespoons
  • Butter50 g
  • Greek yogurt200 g
  • Fresh parsleya few sprigs
  • Salt1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper½ teaspoon
  • Ground cumin1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil2 tablespoons

Instructions

    Finely chop the onion and press the garlic. Mix the ground beef with onion, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Shape into small elongated meatballs (kötte). Cook in a pan with a little olive oil, 5 minutes on each side.

    In a saucepan, sauté the tomato paste for 1 minute, add the crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes.

    Cut the bread into small cubes or strips, toast in a pan with half the butter until crispy.

    Arrange the bread on a serving plate. Place the kötte on top, cover with tomato sauce, and drizzle yogurt over.

    Melt the remaining butter and pour over everything. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
