Lebanese Chicken Shawarma

Ah, Lebanese shawarma! This iconic street food is a true flavor journey. My homemade recipe takes you straight to Beirut with its yogurt-and-spice marinated chicken, grilled to perfection, then rolled in soft pita with crunchy vegetables and creamy sauce. It's simple, quick, and incredibly tasty. Perfect for a family dinner or with friends, it will delight lovers of Levantine cuisine. Instructions

  1. 1

Mix yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken breasts and coat well. Marinate in the fridge for at least one hour (or overnight for more flavor).

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a large pan or griddle over high heat. Cook the marinated chicken breasts for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Let rest 2 minutes then slice into thin strips.

  3. 3

Warm pita bread in a dry pan or oven. Fill each pita with chicken strips, tomatoes, cucumber, and white sauce (tahini or yogurt). Roll or fold and serve immediately.

  4. 4

You can accompany with lemon wedges and a green salad. Enjoy!
