
Tunisian Mechouia Salad (Grilled Pepper Salad)

- Garlic2 cloves
- Olive oil4 tablespoons
- Cumin1 teaspoon
- Harissa1 tablespoon
- Saltto taste
- Lemon juice1 tablespoon
- Black olives100 g
- Hard-boiled eggs2
- Canned tuna (drained)100 g

Grill the whole peppers and tomatoes in the oven (200°C, 20 min) or directly over a flame until the skin blackens. Let cool, then peel and seed the peppers, remove the tomato skins.

Cut the peppers into strips and dice the tomatoes. Crush the garlic.

In a bowl, mix the vegetables with the garlic, olive oil, cumin, harissa, salt, and lemon juice. Lightly mash with a fork to a slightly chunky texture.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

When serving, arrange the salad on a plate, garnish with black olives, quartered hard-boiled eggs, and flaked tuna.
