  • Dry active yeast1 packet (7 g)
  • Salt1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil2 tablespoons
  • Ground beef (or lamb halal)400 g
  • Onion1 large, finely chopped
  • Tomatoes2, finely chopped
  • Green bell pepper1, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley1 bunch, chopped
  • Tomato paste1 tablespoon
  • Paprika1 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice2 tablespoons
  • Lettuce, red onion, and mint for servingTo taste

Instructions

    Prepare dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil, knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Let rest covered for 30 minutes.

    Prepare topping: In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, tomatoes, bell pepper, parsley, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and lemon juice. Season with salt, mix well by hand.

    Preheat oven to 250°C (or highest heat) with a baking sheet inside. Divide dough into 6 balls, roll each very thinly (about 2 mm) on a floured surface.

    Spread a thin layer of topping on each dough disc, pressing lightly with fingers. Do not make it too thick.

    Bake lahmacun one by one on the hot sheet: 5-7 minutes until edges golden and meat cooked. Serve immediately with salad, red onion rings, and fresh mint.
